Congrats to Nanuet tourney participants!
We had a long day in the gym last Sunday, but it was worth it!
Six of our club members participated, two of them for the first time.
- 1st place: Julio Alvarado in the Midget Division
- 3rd Place: Max Josephson in the Novice Division
- 3rd Place: Anthony Signorelli in the Novice Division
- 4th Place: Joey Donat in the Novice Division
- Joey Guido in the Novice Division
- Nick Palmieri in the Novice Division
Julio Alvarado showed that the work he and Max got up in Connecticut over the last two weekends paid big dividends. He went 3-0, beating a NY State Champ from North Rockland with a pivotal takedown for backpoints late in the 3rd period.
Anthony Signorelli and Joey Donat met in the consolation finals. Donat wrestled in his first tournament ever and recorded a fall in the wrestlebacks . Nick Palmieri also wrestled in his first tourney and had to injury default out of the consolation finals. Congrats to Joey and Nick for getting that 1st tournament under their belts.
Joey Guido used his speed to win his opening match, then dropped into the wrestlebacks. He lost a tight 9-8 battle against another talented North Rockland wrestler in the consolation semi-finals, unable to convert a pin for the last 15 seconds of the match.
Max Josephson dropped a tight decision to a Huntington, LI wrestler in the opening round, then easily majored his wrestle-back opponent. He dropped an exhibition bout against good freind Steve Rodriguez (the talented son of the Fox Lane Ass't Coach) after receiving forfeits for his 3rd place medal.
The next area tournament is in Suffern (Rockland county) on Feb 27. Details to follow.
